They all are essentially the same thing and give basic tutorials on using backUp and restore I already have it set up, my post detailed the settings I have, and what my issue is. If there is something in those links that is relevant pls highlight it bc to me they seem useless for my problem.

I can confirm that automatic scheduled backups that allow Windows to manage the images can cause the disk to become full and backup to fail. The work around for me is to configure to only keep the last image. I still get warnings about the disk being full but the backup succeeds. Another frustration is that backups can fail because some users eg.

It is disappointing users must troubleshoot these issues which must be encountered by so many on such commonly configured PCs. I can also say that the backup process for Windows 7 does NOT delete older data backups if it runs out of space. I have to manually open backup and delete older backups for it to work.

So at least once a month, I'll get the error message that the backup process failed, only to find that it ran out of room and then I delete one, maybe two, backups. Sad, but I've been doing this process for over a year now. I would also like to clarify that what I am experiencing is NOT a Server backup issue but a Windows 7 desktop backup issue. The original poster did mention that his is a desktop backup issue as well, but the the "excepted answer" seems to be Server not desktop.

Can you please provide us the output of the vssadmin list shadowstorage command? Same issue here. Windows 7 Ultimate: Backup happens onto one of several external 1 and 2TB harddrives, but it does not delete the oldest backup, and forces me to manually go in and manage backup space, no matter how old the older backups on the drive are.
