Titleist 983 e driver
Not quite as far or accurate as my cc's, but when I hit it right it's great. So far I'm using it for practice and when I pull out a I'm much better. I love this model and have been bagging either the k or the e all year. I first heard about the love for this classic driver right here on this forum. I decided to give one a try. Bought a Felt nice but the shaft was too soft, by a fair margin. Was long but all over the place. Then got hold of a 9.
Could not believe how long I hit it and how good it felt. These sticks are so cheap buying a few is not an issue. Thought the 9.
Couldn't belive how well I hit it. I am the wrong side of 55 and all the experts reckon I should be hitting a driver Tried all those, not a patch on the 8. Not supposed to be able to hit a driver like that. It has certainly made me question all this modern theories about drivers.
Seems to me all this built in forgivness, weight down low and back etc. Anyway after a while I started getting a itte hooky with the k. Not too surprising as it is a draw biased head apparenty. A mate had a 9. Gave it a try and again was blown away! Love the look of the head. Feels powerful and smooth to hit, and is at least 10 meters longer on average than any driver I have used in the last decade.
So much for all the latest and greatest marketing hype we get fed. I am back to 3 cap and just can't find a better stick for me. Sort of to good to be true. And I heard about it all here in a thread like this one. Is the draw bias in the K very large compared to the E?
Also, just how big is the difference in spin? I was surprised to see someone post that above. Maybe a little draw bias would actually be nice. I once played a really good round with a demo R9 that had the face open but heavier weighting in the heel and kind of liked that idea plus, a draw would lower spin which I am after. Yes I have read plenty about the draw bias of the K. It seems to be common knowlege among educated driver ho's.
I think from hitting it although it is definately there it is more on the subtle side. It dosen't seem to sit closed or anything. I am definately straighter with the E. The E is also consistently longer, although not by much. This could be due to lower spin but the tradjectory seems a little flatter with the E which gives a little more run out perhaps. The biggest difference seems to be the shape of the head. The K is shallower faced and longer heel to toe.
High-Handicap comparison of Titleist k and D3 k, 9. Thanks Brian. The Titleist T driver is a great option for any golfer looking for a reliable club off the tee.
The cc head is smaller and deeper results in lower dynamic loft at impact. The Center of Gravity placement is low and forward to create a low backspin ball flight.
The face is supported by an outer flange that results in increased ball speeds across a greater area of the face compared to previous models.
The result is a traditionally shaped club that creates a lower, flatter and hotter ball flight off the tee. Buy the Titleist E driver from 2nd Swing and trade in your used clubs to get a great deal.
