Posted March 07, Anyway, for shits and giggles I've just done a quick like-for-like comparison of Vanilla Rollcage against Redux, and there really are some noticeable visual improvements.
The vanilla screen is upscaled from x because that's the highest resolution the game supports it actually supports x, but not x Never hear of them. But I'll try them out, thanks for the links.
There is little subtlety involved, and races often degenerate into a pyrotechnic free-for-all, bereft of any real tension or excitement. Beneath the superficial exterior, it's a pretty shallow experience, and in all honesty you'd be better off staying in the pub. Browse games Game Portals. Rollcage Stage II. Install Game. Whomever gets killed in between the starting flag and photo finish, well, that's up to you. Yet while Rollcage's ideology dates back to the prehistoric days, it does take the concept of driving up and down walls to new heights. In fact, because your futuristic buggy operates regardless of which side is up, it's possible to pull all sorts of crazy stunts and still land with nary a hitch on all four tires.
Street scholars know that there are two kinds of innovation: a. Rollcage: Stage II's contributions to the genre fall strictly into the latter categroy. Regardless of whichever of the umpteen gazillion play modes one leans towards Campaign, Arcade, Time Attack, etc.
Wherever you turn, there's something new to see and do, whether it involves unlocking new cars and tracks in solo competitions, testing a friend's skill at split-screen multiplayer, or tearing out hair in the elegantly simple challenge based Scramble levels.
Quantity's no substitute for quality, however. Regardless, this product has nothing to worry about in the fun department. Tight handling and cars of varying strengths rated on power, acceleration, top speed, grip and strength make for an insane ride. Vehicles reach speeds of over MPH, with frame rates to match.
Put those bad boys on winding, curvaceous tracks that throw pitfalls, obstacles and super speed arrows their way and it's a surefire recipe for death on wheels. Rejoice, for those who buy into the hype will be rewarded with many a white-knuckle play session.
And yet there's no guaranteed formula for victory. Because triple missiles, shields, turbo boosts, electric prods, and other manly instruments of torture litter the ground, every race's outcome defies prediction. Jaunts on the walls or ceiling can be fun, but they're tricky to pull of and throw even the most masterful driver's game off.
And, wouldn't you know it, this kind of trouble leads to wrong turns and occurs just frequently enough to jeopardize the strongest lead. Maybe better textures and that kind of stuff Maybe some updated graphics. Thank you so much for everything you've already done and are about to do! That's actually really hard to realize that's finally happening ; I think we are all glad you joined us!
Welcome to the group ; About single player, I think i've nothing to add but what the others have stated. Single player is already cool than ever in this game Maybe add a league for the tracks that are in the game Rollcage , but not in any leagues? Like Firefox for example. On Rollcage Stage 2 still, powerups are not really that powerful actually ; some of them really require to have the "powered" mode to be actually effective. Like the minigun, the freezing beam or the exploding bubble.
And the head missile can be easily dodged if you drive with a fast car ; or you don't take too much damage anyway if it beats you on the opposite, when you take the head missile on rollcage, you really feel it. I think some balancing would be cool to do there. And I tend to prefer the Rollcage cars over the Rollcage Stage 2 cars. Indeed, in Rollcage, it's like every cars have their strengths and weaknesses.
For example, as a last-tier car, you would expect the Phoenix to be an awesome car. Still, who has already won a single race with Phoenix? Rollcage 1 cars are just great ; Oh, and once it will come to multiplayer, that would be really nice to add a league ability, so it's possible to race like 5 races consecutively, win points the Rollcage way 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, 0 , and determine then who is the winner.
Thanks again for everything! If you were physically here I would just hug you :D. Last edited by potterman28wxcv ; 31 Jul, pm.

Hey Rob, First up, thank you very much for replying in such a kind manner to our enquiries. It warms my heart to know that someone who's worked on one of the games I love to death, is willing to communicate let alone patch this old game up!
It's not something I take for granted, so thanks. I think you did a great job with both games, and that's not just me kissing your ass.
A lot of retro titles are a nightmare to get running on modern systems, but Rollcage still fires up perfectly fine when doing a fresh install on W7. The depth buffer messes up when playing on resolutions above xsomething. This can be seen at the end of the video gameplay segment I linked to above back-right wheel renders in front of the car's body. The increased complexity of the "Pentium 3" models causes rendering errors on modern systems D3D mode.
